The optical CATV receiver is part of the FiberXport® product family. Together with the FiberXport® fiber termination unit and managed Ethernet gateways, it enables triple play services over a fiber-to-the-home infrastructure in a single unit. The CATV receiver has been developed to enable service providers to offer conventional analog and digital video/radio broadcasting services in fiber-to-the-home applications with low Capex and Opex, without the need for additional TV/Radio set-top-boxes. The optical CATV receiver is designed to receive optical RF signals and convert these to user-ready coaxial signals without loss of quality. The optical CATV receiver supports conventional analog TV/radio signals, as well as Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) signals. Since CATV signals are broadcast signals, the end-users in-house coaxial network can be connected directly to the F-connector output of the optical CATV receiver. Different versions are available that are suited for single family use or for multiple dwellings. When used in combination with a managed Ethernet gateway, the service provider can remotely enable/disable the output signal of the CATV receiver. The provider is also able to monitor if the optical input signal is within specification.
