The upcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas is getting more global with almost 30% of its 98,000 attendees coming from 159 countries. NAB, held April 11-16, is set to host 64 international delegations from every continent and feature Australian representation. Over 650 exhibiting companies out of the more than 1,700 total NAB Show exhibitors are headquartered outside the U.S. showcasing cutting-edge technology solutions and services for the broadcasting and screen industries.

From utilising drones as  content capturers to traditional broadcast tech, NAB is extending its reach into innovation gripping the industry. The show features a new Aerial Robotics and Drone Pavilion, which gives attendees a close look at the technology behind drone cameras. The pavilion will include demonstrations and industry experts discussing laws and regulations surrounding drones, the use of drones for news gathering, capturing aerial video and employing range extenders.

As privacy concerns take increasing precedent on all digital media transactions, John McAfee, founder of McAfee Inc., the world’s largest dedicated security technology company, will  be a featured speaker at the NAB show.

McAfee will discuss his views on the fluid media and IT landscape and how to manage security threats faced by companies daily. “Many companies today are grappling with serious concerns about security and privacy. Protecting valuable digital assets will be top of mind for NAB Show attendees this year, making John McAfee’s luncheon address particularly timely and relevant,” said NAB Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny.

McAfee’s most recent venture, Future Tense Central develops web and mobile applications that allow users to manage accessibility of their data and information. These include Chadder, a text message encryption application; D-Vasive, which allows the user to enable and disable various phone features with the swipe of a finger; and DCentral1, an auditing program that reveals which applications are leaking your private information.

Australian IPTV solutions provider CombiTel will be attending NAB and its technology partner Video-Flow will be exhibiting the next generation of their products.  VideoFlow provides scalable solutions to ensure uninterrupted, secure, live, broadcast-quality video delivery over any IP network. Sending live video broadcasts as a continuous bit stream, which IP networks were never designed to handle, results in artefacts caused by packet jitter, and packet loss. More than a couple of seconds of latency is unacceptable by customers expecting to enjoy the excitement of live events like sport as they happen. VideoFlow’s technology ensures that no packet is lost and the packet jitter caused by transiting the IP network is nullified. By doing so, it affords the opportunity to lower the costs.

With seven separate conference tracks offered at the show, the NAB Show will introduce a new “Online Video Conference” to focus on the key issues facing online video providers of original content. Key issues include the migration to OTT, online original content, gaming and sports, user-generated content, cross-screen targeting, online advertising metrics and new online video platforms.
