Enterprise IPTV

Traditional Master Antenna Television (MATV) systems use analogue equipment for distribution of TV signals over coaxial cable and in the case of large installations, over hybrid fibre-coax (HFC) cable plant.

IP technologies have revolutionised TV channel delivery, and it’s not just service providers who are reaping the benefits. We are now providing complete solutions to our corporate customers who require TV (including Pay-TV) distribution over their existing or planned data networks in their buildings or managed residential estates.

CombiTel’s IP MATV platform can operate over your corporate LAN, campus ADSL or fibre network, and provide crystal-clear pictures in standard or high definition formats. TV channels can be received using either an IP set-top box or PC running media player software.

Here are just some of the benefits provided by MATV over IP solutions:

  • Single network and cabling for TV, high-speed Internet and telephone system
  • Excellent picture quality and easy-to-navigate menus for all users
  • High Definition channel support
  • Easy Video-On-Demand integration
  • Additional local channels (security, community/guest information, etc.)
  • Optional EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)
  • Optional PVR (Personal Video Recorder) functionality

Please let us know what your needs are and we will design a complete system to your network specifications and TV channel requirements.

Digital Signage

Traditional printed signage is gradually being replaced by a superior and more flexible solution called digital signage. Digital signage is typically delivered via flat panel displays. It provides a full range of content such as graphics, video, audio and text, playing on different screens in different locations, managed from one central point.

Digital signage helps to create that unique look and feel that puts your business above the rest. Dynamic digital signage may draw more attention than static, printed signage and can be updated quickly and professionally. Digital signage also saves your business money that would have otherwise been wasted on printing, displaying and taking down old printed signage. In some cases it may even generate additional revenue for a retailer or a property owner when spare “airtime” is sold to others.

A CombiTel digital signage solution is more than just a few LCD screens and cabling. Our systems are fully networked and ready to deliver your marketing message to all your sales outlets (or may be just a few selected shops) straight away. We are particularly skilled at producing a scalable network design for multiple sites. Our solutions provide real time content management and distribution as well as bandwidth management where needed.

CombiTel can design a digital signage solution for almost any environment; retail stores, shopping centres, showrooms, corporate office environments, banks, real estate agents, hotels, conference centres, cafes, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and even large venues such as sporting arenas and airports.

Over The Top TV

Over-The-Top (OTT) TV has already made a significant impact on the global media industry. In many cases it has successfully challenged the existing relationships and business models among content owners, network operators, resellers, broadcasters, equipment manufacturers, and finally consumers.

OTT means direct content delivery to the customer bypassing one, several or all stages of either physical or commercial intermediate “processing”. It means the removal of “middle men”. Since early 90s OTT has taken various shapes from niche websites streaming in-house content to increasingly global platforms such as AppleTV, Hulu, and others.

Initial OTT deployments were only targeting PCs as end points due to commercial and technical limitations of other devices at that time. These days most OTT providers are either developing or already offering multi-screen TV delivery to PCs, mobiles, tablets, game consoles, connected TV sets and set-top boxes.

The advent of Adaptive Streaming technologies from Adobe, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other companies has underpinned the technical success of the next generation OTT platforms. It has made it possible to economically deliver uninterrupted, high quality video over variable networks to a range of devices. Adaptive streaming, with continuous automatic tuning of the video stream to meet limitations in network bandwidth and receiving device resources, delivers the best possible viewing experience while minimizing delivery costs. As a result, most over-the-top content services today have or are in the process of implementing some form of adaptive streaming to provide a satisfying viewing experience on a variety of Internet-connected devices.

OTT delivery concept is relevant not only for consumer services, but also for Enterprises, which may require various corporate video materials, delivered over varied WAN/LAN segments.

When considering an OTT deployment, our customers are usually faced with a number of tough choices. In addition to the different device and streaming protocols, the content must also be protected by studio-approved Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology. The combination of the required adaptive streaming protocols and the DRM solutions creates a complex matrix of content ingestion challenges for the operator.

CombiTel is here to help. We can provide either initial consulting and design package or implement a complete turnkey deployment.
